Research Interests
I am currently working in laboratory of Owen Woodward in the Department of Physiology, focusing on renal physiology and epithelial transport. We are studying molecular mechanisms of uric acid homeostasis and how that related to health and disease (including inflammatory arthritis/gout, kidney disease, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.) My current focus is on the urate transporter protein, ABCG2, and what regulates its transcription, post-translational modifications, and overall function using a variety of in vitro and in vivo techniques, including classifying a novel mouse model we have developed.
