Getting to Baltimore (Maryland, U.S.A.)

Flying: The closest airport is Baltimore-Washington International (BWI, 25 minutes). However, National and Dulles Airports are also within a reasonable distance (1 hr and 1:15 hr respectively).

Train: Penn Station is in downtown Baltimore, just a 10-minutes cab ride from the Medical School.

Driving: There are four major roads leading to Baltimore, I-95 South from New York/Deleware etc, I-95 North from Washington DC/Virginia, I-70 East from Frederick, Maryland and I-83 from York, Pennsylvania.

Getting to the JHU Medical School (725 N. Wolfe Street)

Directions from BWI Airport: The best way to get to the JHU Medical School is to take a cab from BWI to "Johns Hopkins Hospital, Wolfe Street Entrance." This should take about 20-25 minutes and cost $20-$25. If you are renting a car, take the I-195 from the airport to I-95 North and follow the "directions from south" below.

Directions from South: Take I-95 North. As you approach the city stay in one of the right lanes, and take I-395 into the city (follow signs for Downtown Baltimore, just a mile or so). Go straight through the first two lights and turn right on Pratt Street (third light), just past the convention center. Follow Pratt about two miles and turn left on Washington Street. Follow Washington about 1 miles, through 5 lights. Immediately after the fifth light (at Monument Street) there is a parking garage on the right side of the street - park there.

Directions from the West: Take I-70 to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway), and follow I-695 south (toward Glen Burnie) until you reach I-95. Take I-95 North and follow "directions from south" described above.

Directions from North: Take I-95 South to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway). Take I-695 east/south to exit 35, Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40). Proceed west along Pulaski Highway and turn right onto Orleans Street. Turn right on Washington Street. Go past Monument Street and park in the garage on the right hand side.

Finding the Department

From the Hospital Wolfe Street Entrance: Go north on Wolfe Street 1 block to Monument. The entrance to the Medical School is on the north-east side of the corner of Wolfe and Monument. Tell the security guard at the door who you are there to visit (it helps to have their phone number with you).

From the Washington Street Garage: The School of Medicine is right across the street. Walking out of the garage go left (south) 1/2 block to Monument and then right (west) 1 block to Wolfe Street. Enter on the north-east corner of Wolfe and Monument and tell the security guard at the door who you are there to visit (it helps to have their phone number with you).

Note: The area around the medical school can be unsafe, so we do not recommend parking on the street.
